Propranolol FAQ
A 48-year-old man is brought to the emergency department by his wife after obtaining a blood pressure reading of 234/142 mm Hg on a home blood pressure monitor. In the emergency department, his blood pressure is 236/144 mm Hg. The patient states that he has always had poorly controlled blood pressure. He also states that he took medication for a migraine headache 2 hours earlier. Which of the following medications did he most likely take? A. Diclofenac potassium B. Ergotamine C. Methysergide D. Propranolol E. Sumatriptan i guessed d. note: i am in my 1st semester of med school and do step 1 prep qs in my spare time. often, i will be able to make an educated guess, provided the qs are not histo or pharm related. any help would be appreciated.
i was charged with possession of marijuana in alabama, i had two pills of adderall in a prescribed bottle also?i've calmed down about being charged with the marijuana im just really worried if they could in any way try and bring up the possession of adderall even though i wasn't charged for it. The adderall was in my prescribed bottle of propranolol, i don't know if they checked the bottle or not. They didn't even say anything about it other than ask me if it was my prescription. This is also my first time offense with possession of marijuana. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
How do beat blockers affect getting a tattoo?ie, can you get tattoos while on beta blockers, specifically propranolol? there seems to be a mix of information about. i am planning on asking my doc but thought id get a general consensus first.
my feet and ankles won't stop swelling..?it's been going on for about a year, off and on. they don't hurt at all, i drink tea constantly and pee a lot, sometimes my hands feel a bit swollen too but not bad. my doctor didn't seem too concerned about it but it's very annoying and i'm starting to worry. i just had surgery (cone biopsy and LEEP) for abnormal cells so i've been in pain down there for quite a long time. i can't tell if i ever have a UTI or if it's just the cervix thing. i also have heart problems (tachycardia and mitral valve prolapse) and have been taking propranolol for about 2 years. does anyone else have the same problem? or any ideas on what it could be? thank you..
What can I do to relieve severe, constant headaches without medication?I have had a constant headache for the past three years, it's always there and it doesn't go away. I am in and out of the doctors/hospital but so far no one can explain the cause of them. My doctor has tried to give me relief whilst the headaches are investigated, but i seem to have a really bad tolerance to medication. Nearly everything doesn't work or makes me sick. Can anyone advise any other things i can do to relieve them? I'm not talking about lying in a dark room with a flannel on my head, they're are too severe for that to have any affect. Are there any herbal things i can take, or activities i can do? anything at all? thanks p.s. I don't know if it helps but in case it does, the medication i have been on are: Diclofenac sodium - Didn't help the headaches at all and gave me an upset stomach. Pizotifen 1.5mg - The only thing that has helped reduce the severity of the headaches without nasty side effects, but i built an immunity to them very quickly. Propranolol 20mg - Made me extremely ill. Anything codeine based - Makes me extremely ill. Amitriptyline 20mg - Am on this at the moment, it doesn't do much for the headaches and makes me feel on edge and sick, on only 20mg!

Atrial Fibrillation: Rate Control, Rhythm Control and Role of Cardiosource, DC I put 'em on a beta-blocker – the non-selective beta-blockers like nadolol and propranolol are more effective for rate control than the selective beta-blockers — or verapamil, or diltiazem; verapamil is, of course cheaper.
