Primidone FAQ

Has anyone else tried to switch from Mysoline to the generic Primidone and had side effects?

The cost of Mysoline is now $395 per month and I am unable to tolerate the Primidone, even though there is suppose to be no difference. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue. My insurance company charges an amcillary charge because I take the brand name drug.

hi, i have a question about the drug suboxone . . .?

thanks in advance for your answers! i was addicted to oxycontin, heroin, and general pain killers for about six years. i decided to turn my life around and i went to the methadone clinic, however i was tired of being a junkie and i decided to begin taking suboxone in an effort to kick everything once and for all. i read excellent reviews about how this drug has saved people's lives who abused opiates, and i am confident it will be right for me. however, i did not ask my doctor about the interaction with my other medication and he is obviously not in his office anymore today and i am starting to have a slight withdrawal type ache. i took only two milligrams earlier today which is probably not enough, i just was not sure how it would interact with me. i take klonipin (.5 mgs t.i.d.) and primidone (mysoline, 50 mgs b.i.d.) for anxiety and panic disorder. does anyone have any experience with this medication? if so, i would appreciate your input very much :-) also, should i feel like i am loaded while on this? i was expecting it to be different from methadone... but i still feel that loaded kind of feeling if that makes any sense...? thanks all! thanks very much for your answer, and i appreciate you being judgmental toward people because some folks need a good brow-beating. however, i started on opiates because of pain. i have five tears in my left rotator cuff and continuously dislocate and tear up my right shoulder (i used to bodybuild fairly heavily and i did three years in the service). problem was docs didnt want me to get addicted (whoops too late) and heroin was a good escape since it is so much cheaper than oxycontin. i have gone through plenty things in my life... i appreciate any answer but i was really asking about the possible poor interaction of suboxone and klonipin or primidone. thank you again!

What medications are there for essential tremors?

I have been diagnosed with essential tremors (I've had them since I can remember). They are getting worse. I've cut out caffeine and tried Enderol, Primidone and Propanolol. Is there anything left to suggest to my doctor? Should I ask for Xanax or something for when they get really bad and if so, how often can I use that without becoming addicted or building up a tolerance?

Seizures... advice?

I have an older collie, he's going on 9. He was rescued, and from what we can tell, he was abused poss. even kicked in the head. Finally figured out he's been having seizures, most of them are similar to the mild general seizure, but sometimes worse than that. He lays there without breathing, sometimes twitches, and will get up really quickly, and be very confused, wandering around like he's lost. How we realized it was seizures was I was giving him a bath, and he fell into the side of the tub and didn't move or respond to me for a few mins, then he was fine. We took him to the vets, told him what was going on, and he either put him on Valium or Primidone, don't 'member which anymore. When we gave him some, he had a really bad reaction. Since, with other things, we've realized the vet's stupid, and quit using him. Still don't have enough to go back to another vets. I'm worried. Could it be from previous abuse? Any advice is appreciated. Will take him to a vets when I get paid enough! He has no access to any sort of chemicals, and from what we can tell, it happens multiple times a day. He has no stress, he either sleeps on an old glider on our front porch, or in the house. He occasionally runs after cars going by, if he can hear them since he's going deaf. Will get him to a vets after I have the money, just started a new job and have no money yet... The seizures are the one closest to the grand mal I believe. Done the research I can, but not enough info or me... His seizures aren't any kind that he can hurt himself, he doesn't usually move any when he has a seizure, just quits breathing, and occasionally twitches. When I first got him, if your foot came off the ground for any reason, he was convinced you were going to kick him. He didn't let us get near him when he was laying down, and to this day, he's still completely terrified of bicycles.
