Inhalers for infants....?My granddaughter was diagnosed with a very minor case of Laryngomalacia at 2 months old and has been following a pulmonologist since. She is turning 8 months old now. She went to her 6 month checkup at her pediatrician and they noticed she sounded a little raspy when breathing. It just started a week or so before and we figured it would be addressed during this appointment since the baby was not in any stress, or had fevers. She just simply sounded raspy. They said come back in a few weeks if it doesn't clear up because they were suspecting allergies. They heard nothing in the lungs. No wheezing, no retracting. Three weeks later, we had her seen at a local express clinic for this since we couldn't get an appointment with her doctor. They said it wasn't in her lungs either and said maybe it was a cold? Again, no wheezing and no retracting. They were uncertain about what to say about the allergy thing because it's hard to tell in infants and they are not pediatricians. Now last month we had a routine follow up at the pulmonologist office. She had been sounding like this now for about a month. The doctor there heard the same thing the other doctors heard and said it wasn't in the lungs either but she was going to treat her as if it were. She kind of shrugged off the allergy thing also. The baby was prescribed Prednisolone, Loratidine, and Albuterol and Flovent inhalers with a spacer. The instructions were to use the all the medicines together for the next 5 days (varied in times a day to take) and if there is no improvement that I must call back. This was highly stressed about calling back! So, there was no improvement within 7 days. This ran through the weekend so the 5th day came on a Saturday. My daughter called on that Monday and got a nurse who said it was the Laryngomalacia and just continue the Flovent as maintenance and keep her follow up appointment in 6 months. That didn't sound right because they stressed for me to make sure I got ahold of them if this combo didn't work and show improvement within 5 days. Also, I can't see what Flovent would have to do with Laryngomalacia. I called the next day and got another nurse who said let me check the chart and call you back. She said the same as the other. Stay on the Flovent until she comes back to see them. My question to her was what is the Flovent going to do over the next few months that it hasn't done yet. She assured me we would see improvements with the Flovent in time. Frustrated, I called and asked the pharmacist where I got the medicines filled about the Flovent use. He told me that if the Flovent didn't work in the 5 days with the other meds it probably won't work with or without the other meds. Am I crazy? Has anyone heard of an infant staying on Flovent for 'maintenance' when she isn't wheezing AND it hasn't helped anyway? I would also think if it was allergies, the Loratadine (Claratin) should have helped especially being combined with the steroids and inhalers. This is why I haven't called back and scheduled with the pediatrician. I'm considering calling to move her pulmonology appointment up, but wanted to hear what others have to say about the use of Flovent in infants! This way I can be prepared with questions when I go.
What hayfever compound is better, loratadine or cetirizine hydrochloride?I'm starting to get hayfever and dont know which ones are better. Any help please? Thanks
Is this considered overdoes? Please help!?Well, my doctor gave me a drug/pill/medication called loratadine. He told me to take it once a day. However, the box shows that i can't take more than 1 tablet in 24 hours. What if i take 1 tablet at 9:00 A.M. on one day. And then take another tablet at 8:00 at the following day. Since it's only 23 hours, is that considered overdose?

Allergies from Hell - Youngstown Vindicator
Allergies from Hell Youngstown Vindicator, OH All I can think about is the blessed pink Benadryl pill that awaits me before bed tonight because the generic Loratadine pill I took doesn't work for a darn like Loratadine D does (talk about speed!).
