What types of bacteria cause bacterial pneumonia?

I have a patient case that lists the patient as being unresponsive to levofloxacin as a treatment for pneumonia. The patient has non-hodgkin's lymphoma. Is there any correlation between the two as far as pneumonia being a sign or complication of NHL? I thought that there wasn't but I just read that the H. pylori lead to MALT lymphomas, I don't think that H. pylori can cause pneumonia because it's an gastointestinal bacteria. Furthermore, the patient has no abdominal pain and even though she is vomiting I think this is a B symptom of NHL. Is my line of thought correct?

ive gotten a strep throat 5 times in 3 months and the doctor is now advising me to get my tonsils out....i take antibiotic for 7 days i get well and after a few days/weeks i get sick again...ive had levofloxacin,moxifloxacin and now zpak....i was wondering if i can take some herbal things or some antioxidants or some strong multivitamin...currently i take one centrum daily but it isnt doing me any gud...and i masturbate about 3,4 times a week...i hoipe that doesnt have anything to lowering my resistance thanks

Hey all.... this is a long one. OK I am almost 21. I have had some medical problems but not a whole lot. Lets see. When I was 3 I was on amoxicillin for a ear infection. When I was around 5 I was on amoxicillin again for a tick bite. When I was around 11 I was on amoxicillin for a virus that was causing some infection. I also had a virus in my eye, and I have re-curring visruses quite often. In the Army I was prescribed the Z-Pak (Zithromax ) twice once for pneumonia and once for bronchitis. I was also prescribed Levofloxacin which I understand to be a rather strong antibiotic, but according to the Army Dr. that put me on it, I was near death from my case of pneumonia. I was also on tetracycline at one point for quite awhile. So, other than that I've had some issues with heart palpitations. I was on Atenolol for that, but I've been fine lately. I'm in great shape, six foot and 165 lbs. I'm still an MP in the Army. However these are the issues I have now. I get something like hot flashes sometimes. I feel very warm for about 2 hrs, and my fiancee notices it and always says I feel hot. My temp is always about 98.4 when this happens. When I run my lungs burn and it is very painful. My Dr. took x-rays and said I have some scar tissue from the pneumonia and gave me Advair for a month. It didn't help at all. Other than that...I suffer from depression pretty bad and anxiety, even though you would never notice it from the outside. I noticed my hands and arms shake pretty much all the time, but not really noticeable, unless I hug someone they will ussually notice. I get sharp quick pain in my head some times... and bad tension headaches in my neck. My noses run ALL the time and I always have phlegm in my throat. I can blow my nose any time of day for the past 2 years and the mucus will be half clear and half bright yellowish. I always feel tired and my head is sorta in a fog, I can't concentrate. I work a lot but I definitely feel abnormally tired. I told my Dr. all of this. He had me go for a lot of blood tests. Nothing. He put me on a sleeping med. thinking I don't sleep well enough. Nothing different. So based on my own research I have come to the conclusion that I am probably bi-polar since along with my symptoms I have bad mood swings the past year... and that I may have a candida issue from all the antibiotics. What do you think? Any suggestions would be great. This sucks.

I am taking an antibiotic called levaquin (maybe levofloxacin more specifically) and i was wondering if it reduces the effects of my birth control pills. I read the drug information that came with it but it didnt mention anything. The birth control pills are called microgestin, i dont know if it matters what kind it is, but yeah. So if anyone knows if the antibiotics reduce the effectiveness of the birth control pills, please let me know! thanks :)
