I have fibrocystic breast condition and have been prescribed danazol. Is that the only cure?

A recent biopsy of a lump I had discovered in my breast revealed that I have fibrocystic breast condition. I have been prescribed danazol by my doctor, but have read that danazol has too many side effects. Is there no other cure for this condition? Can I avoid the drug altogether since I am not experiencing any pain in my breasts?

I've already been treated with steroids, danazol, azathioprine, and I've already been splenectomized without any favourable results.

There were no other physical findings. A laparoscopy revealed the presence of ectopic endometrial tissue on the uterine wall and ovaries. Danazol (a synthetic androgen and inhibitor of gonadotropins), 600 mg/day, was prescribed for up to nine months to inhibit ovulation, suppress the growth of the abnormal endometrial tissue, and achieve appreciable symptomatic relief, with a 30% possibility of conception after withdrawal of the therapy. 1. What is the diagnosis of this woman? What is wrong with her? 2. What does ectopic endometrial tissue mean? 3. Could ectopic endometrial tissue exist outside of the uterus? Why or why not? How would it get there? 4. Why would a gonadotropin inhibitor (like Danazol) help this woman? 5. How does Danazol stop ovulation? 6. Would oral contraceptives also work? Why or why not?

I am male and I am 15 (nearly 16) but I suffer from a common condition where I have adnomally large nipples/ breast area, and it really bothers me and causes me embarrassment and I don't like going swimming becasue of it. Would it be safe for me to take, I'm ver yhelthy at the moment. I've heard it makes you hairier, but is this only tempoarily, brecause I don't want to be a gorilla. thankyou for your help.

I have been taking this medicine for about 2 weeks, 200 mgs./day. I am very worried about the side effects. I have already started to get terrible acne and feel I am gaining weight, as well as having very yellow urine. I just want to stop taking it, is there any problem with stopping abruptly? Thanks!
