What can I do to relieve severe, constant headaches without medication?

I have had a constant headache for the past three years, it's always there and it doesn't go away. I am in and out of the doctors/hospital but so far no one can explain the cause of them. My doctor has tried to give me relief whilst the headaches are investigated, but i seem to have a really bad tolerance to medication. Nearly everything doesn't work or makes me sick. Can anyone advise any other things i can do to relieve them? I'm not talking about lying in a dark room with a flannel on my head, they're are too severe for that to have any affect. Are there any herbal things i can take, or activities i can do? anything at all? thanks p.s. I don't know if it helps but in case it does, the medication i have been on are: Diclofenac sodium - Didn't help the headaches at all and gave me an upset stomach. Pizotifen 1.5mg - The only thing that has helped reduce the severity of the headaches without nasty side effects, but i built an immunity to them very quickly. Propranolol 20mg - Made me extremely ill. Anything codeine based - Makes me extremely ill. Amitriptyline 20mg - Am on this at the moment, it doesn't do much for the headaches and makes me feel on edge and sick, on only 20mg!

We are getting a Surrogate because I am taking medications that are risky for a pregnancy - getting off them is not an option because I am feeling much better on them ~ so please don't say just stop taking them as I was saying, it's not an option ~ I am curious though if I would be able to breastfeed our baby? I was wondering how long these medications stay in my system and if there is like a 2-5 hour window where I could pump, freeze, and save the breast milk? I am on the following medications: - Amitriptyline 50mg - Cymbalta 60mg - Xanax 0.5mg I only take them at bedtime every night. Thanks for any help you can give. :)

Right! A month ago i stayed at my friends house and found it really difficult to get to sleep. I know it sounds weird but i kept thinking i was going to die. Then the next morning i woke up and i thought i'd got a tension headache so i took paracetamol. The pain relief didnt take it off. A week later i still had this tension that moved all around my head and neck. Also my neck and head were always red hot and i constantly felt dizzy. I had taken all types of pain relief and even de-congestant's. So i decided to go to the doctors. the doctor did the usual checks and said everything seemed normal and told me to come back in 2 weeks. I couldnt wait that long so i went back in a week i saw a different doctor and he suggested i take medicine called Amitriptyline and sent me for blood tests. I just got my bloods back and they are normal. I have been taking the tablets for 2 weeks and nothing has changed. Its constantly there. Im not sure what to do?

I have had a constant headache for three years now, from the moment i wake to the moment i fall asleep, i don't get a break from them, sometimes they're not too bad and i can carry on with day to day activities, other times they are so bad that i can't move. my doctor does not believe they are migraines. i have tried all sorts of medication, the only one of which helped was Pizotifen, which just lessened the amount of times i had really bad headaches. I'm in and out of the hospital but so far no one can say what is the cause of the headaches. I am Amitriptyline now for them, which triggered the idea that it could be linked to something psychological? I've never been the happiest person in the world, i had a pretty low time a few years back but got through it. now i just feel empty most of the time. i have never had professional help for it except counselling for alcoholism. I also have extremely vivid dreams, i am always exhausted when i wake up because it feels as though my body hasn't had time to rest because of the dreams. Could these possibly be connected or are they just two separate issues?

I was diagnosed with vulvar vestibulitis about a year ago. My gyno had me try several topical creams without any luck. Then she put me on amitriptyline. That helped a little bit. Luckily, I was able to get pregnant and immediately went off the amitriptyline at new gynos orders. But now I am completely unable to have sex. My husband and I have not had sex since week 6. I am now at 20 weeks. I am not even going into the problems that has caused.... Has anyone suffered from this and have suggestions or help? Did condition improve after birth? Old gyno was considering sending me for surgery, but can't while pregnant. And new gyno doesn't even sound like that is an option. I'm just at my wits end. Have been dealing with this for 3 years. It is taking quite a toll on me and my relationship. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. We do other stuff. I'm not completely cutting him off. But it is still causing a strain.
