I have been prescribed Restoril (a sedative hynotic for sleeping) but have recently have had an onset of seizures due unknown reasons and about to enter LTM at an epilepsy center to determine why. The literature on both medications, the anti seizure ones: topamax and Depakote, and the S/H one Restoril state to use caution when mixing sediative hyptonics like Restoril with anitconvulsants, which the other two fall into those class, but they don't say why. Even The Pill Book, my ultimate source says that, but doesn't give any reasons for stating that or why the combination of the two class of drug is dangeours. Restoril is the only thing that gives me a good nights sleep. Ambien, Lunesta, all the others, don't work for me. You would think that the with the somulant side effect of topamax I wouldn't have any issues, but I react differently and it makes me hyper and need a stronger sleep add like Restoril to get that necessary sleep. Now, unfortunately, the only time I can get any sleep is when I have seizures and have to take IV antivan or Diastat to stop the cluster seizures and get knocked out in the process. Upon coming out from the combination of the seizure and the drug induced semi-coma, I can sleep, but of course, it is not resortative and not without a horriffic hangover. Can anyone out there help me understand why the two drugs classes are dangerous in combination? As of now, I'm simply an insominiac as I am overly cautious. If it is a simply just an annoying side effect, I'll deal with it to get a good night's sleep or reduce the dosage it one amplifies the other, but if it is very dangerous as an interaction, of course I won't. And unfortunately my doctors take forever to answer my questions until my next appointment, which happens to be weeks away. If anyone can shed light on this, I'd greatly appreciate it or point me to a reliable source on the net so I can get more substantial info. I can't find anything on the net on my own so far except spam returned from search engine. Thanks so much.
I am Considering getting an IUD, Is it a form of abortion?The pill isn't effective for me due to the many meds I am on, and condoms aren't used religiously.I know I do not want another child. I am torn apart & undecided. I want to make the best decision for my beliefs and my life. My b/f says he will be there no matter what happens but due to the anti-convulsants I am on pregnancy is really not a smart option for me. Please help!!

Do you think that the safety of our food supply should be the number #1 priority that Obama should focus on?Which means restricting trade with China until new laws (or previously existing laws being enforced) ensure that all foods from China are inspected before being available to the consumers, that all GMOs are banned until studies are conducted that show the long term consumption of all GMOs being used to be safe (and not ignoring the studies showing animals dying and having other damaging effects), and that our water doesn't mysteriously have prescription drugs in it (even rare drugs like anti-convulsants)? Yeah...they say that famine and poverty is the best way to control people (which is what they do in Africa). I think that's what US aid is really going to.
Are there natural alternatives to treating Bi-Polar I Disorder?I have been taking Depakote ER for my bi-polar disorder for about ten years now. However, I recently read - yet never informed by my doctor - that anti-convulsants can cause osteoporosis. This is very concerning to me in that I am reaching the 50 year mark of my life. If there are natural alternatives to this medication, I would be grateful if you would share them with me. Thanks :)
