Nasal Conjestion- Afrin nose spray- Pregnant- Please Help!?

I have had nasal conjestion for years now it would come and last for a couple weeks while i would use afrin daily the whole time to relieve it then leave for a couple months. I am now almost 4 months pregnant and my nasal conjestion wont go away I have been using Afrin nasal spray for a couple months and it wont go away every time i tried to stop taking it i couldnt breath out my nose and couldnt sleep. i went to the doctor and she told me it was because of allergies and told me to squirt baking soda water and salt up my nose daily and gave me rhinocort nasal spray but this doesnt help at all. I really really want to stop taking Afrin I am afraid it will harm my baby and i know your not supposed to take it more than three days but i freak out when i cant breathe out my nose.I was told afrin was safe to use during pregnancy but you never know. I dont think my nasal conjestion is due to allergies I have tried taking benadryl for allergies and it doesnt help. I have been getting really dizzy this last month as I feel like im guna faint and I want to sleep I am drinking enough fluids. I have also been getting nose bleeds this month. Last night I got a headache that i woke up with and i still have it this evening it goes away when i lay down but comes back when i get up. So my questions are: Does afrin cause any major health problems or birth defects? What can I do to relieve my nasal conjestion? Any information will help. Thank You I dont want to use afrin any longer

If you are allergic to iodine how does it affect you. Please let me know?

I cannot eat garlic (iodine in garlic) or fish, shellfish, iodised salt, also betedine (topical use) and IV iodine such as for Xrays. Can you if you have this allergy tell me how it affects you. I also cannot take vitamins with iodine or the shakes that are for diets as they all have iodine added

Who should pay in this situation?

We decided we wanted a kitten so instead of finding one in a private home we decided to go to a shelter and adopt one. We got to the shelter and as we were walking in we noticed this family bringing a kitten back. They're excuse was allergies and the shelter worker put the kitten in with the other kittens right away. We were looking around at them and we decided that since this little guy had just lost his home we should take him. We noticed he was breathing funny but the shelter told us it was just stress. We payed 110$ for that. We got home and immediately the kitten hid under a couch. He was there all night and used the litter box once. He did not eat or drink a thing. In the morning we noticed he had peed on the floor. We figured he probably couldn't find the litter box at night so no big deal. We went out for about an hour and came home to find him sleeping in his litter box. That was when I really got worried. I had only seen a cat sleep in a litter box once before and it died a couple hours later. So I was panicking. We rushed it to an emergency vet (it was a sunday and the regular one was closed) and at first they wanted to do x-rays, then they had to give him oxygen and then they told us he had the worst pneumonia they had EVER seen and they couldn't believe the shelter let us adopt him. The final bill from the vet 600$. It had been 24 hours since we got the kitten and it was dead. 710$ later, no kitten and a broken hearted family. The shelter was city owned and we fought them tooth and nail to get reimbursed for this. They told us that the cat was fine when it left the shelter. They called us liars saying that the cat was not the one that had just arrived and that every cat undergoes a thorough inspection by a vet before being adopted. What a load of crap. We went to the papers and got a written note from the vet saying this cat could not have gotten so sick in the 24 hours we had it. They published this big long story about us and finally the city offered to reimburse us. Was it wrong for us to demand they pay? They told us this kitten was fine when we adopted it even though it was deathly ill. What's your opinion? (sorry for the novel) ** There was no possibility of bringing it back to them because they were closed for the weekend (It was new years)
